Charlotte County Public Schools’ Accomplishments
· Randolph Henry High School’s 2010 On-time Graduation Rate (89.9%) is highest in Region 8, Exceeding the state average of 85.5%. Link for more information: http://www.doe.virginia.gov/statistics_reports/graduation_completion/index.shtml
· Charlotte County Schools was approved for Pre-Labor Day Opening by the State Board of Education due to an innovative program, Connecting All Students to Higher Education (CA$HE). All students, grades Pre-K through 12, have organized activities which expose them to options for post secondary education. These activities are documented in each student’s scholastic record and used at all grade levels to discuss career options and educational needs. In 2010, 87.6% of high school graduates enrolled in postsecondary education, including military.
Eureka Elementary School: 2010 Recipient of the National Blue Ribbon School Award. Only 9 schools in Virginia received this honor in 2010.
CHARLOTTE COUNTY SCHOOLS RECEIVE GOVERNOR’S EXCELLENCE AWARDS
J. Murray Jeffress Elementary School was awarded the Governor’s Award for Educational Excellence.
To qualify for the Governor’s Award for Educational Excellence, schools and school divisions must meet all state and federal achievement benchmarks for at least two consecutive years and achieve applicable excellence goals for elementary reading, enrollment in Algebra I by grade 8, enrollment in college-level courses, high school graduation, attainment of advanced diplomas, increased attainment of career and industry certifications, and participation in the Virginia Preschool Initiative. Schools and school divisions also earn bonus points for other performance measures, including the Governor’s Nutrition and Physical Activity Scorecard.
The Charlotte County School Division, as well as Bacon District Elementary School and Eureka Elementary School, were awarded the Board of Education’s Competence to Excellence Award.
· All schools and the division made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) under the Federal No Child Left Behind guidelines for 2009-10. The following schools made AYP for 2010-11:

· On Standards of Learning Tests, the Charlotte County School Division has exceeded state averages in English, Math, Science, History, and Writing for the past 3 years.

· Randolph Henry High School curriculum offers dual enrollment and Advanced Placement (AP) courses. We have students who graduate with Associate Degrees from Southside Community College at the same time as they receive advanced studies high school diplomas.
· Bacon District Elementary and The Early Learning Center have received National Recognition as Title 1 Distinguished Schools.
· Central Middle School has qualified for the 21st Century Grant and is in the second year of implementation.
